Mike Harding – Hockey Development

MikeMike played Bantam Hockey in Edson before moving back to the city to play Major Midget. He continued on playing for the St.Albert Saints of the AJHL where he obtained a 4 yr Scholarship to play for the NCAA, Div 1 Northern Michigan University Wildcats. Drafted by the Hartford Whalers in the 6th round, Mike continued to play minor pro for 7 seasons which included time overseas in London and Manchester, England & Scotland. He also had the opportunity to play on the British National Team. Mike has Coaching and Hockey Camp experience of 12+ years along with providing Skill development for various associations.  He really enjoys bringing creativity and fun to the development of Players. The on-ice sessions will consist of drill repetition: skating, puck handling, passing, and shooting . Small area games will be utilized to simulate player’s puck and game situation skills. 

DONNA STEWART – Specialized Skating Instruction


Donna has been a power skating instructor for over 40 years. In that time Donna has worked with and as a mentor with a number of teams and organizations across Alberta. She is a certified Can Power Skating Instructor and holds both technical and theory NCCP level 3 certification. Donna takes a serious approach to teaching youth and this is evident by her use of the most up to date and proven skating techniques. Designed to improve balance, edge control, flexibility, agility, explosive quickness and conditioning. Condensed sessions tailored to meet the needs of the program. Pucks will be incorporated into sessions to put practice into play.

JT Bartlett    

For 2019-20 season J.T. has been named Head Coach of the St.Albert Minor Midget AAA Team. The last 2 seasons, 2017-2019 seasons. He was Head Coach of the St. Albert JT PicBantam AA Blues. Alongside coaching hockey in St. Albert, J.T. is also a hockey instructor for the St. Albert Public Hockey Academy. He has completed his final year of his Bachelor of Secondary Education. During his playing days, J.T. played AAA hockey at the Bantam and Midget levels for the Raiders Hockey Club and for Spruce Grove.  J.T. is heavily involved the elite level coaching stream within Hockey Alberta. In the summer of 2016. He served as coaching lead for the Female U16 development camp in Camrose, AB. He has also coached at the Alberta Winter Games twice, winning gold in 2016 with Edmonton Zone 6 as an assistant and took home a silver medal in 2018 as the Head Coach with Calgary Zone 3. He also served as an assistant coach at the PeeWee Prospects Cup with Capital Orange in 2017.

Joaquin Gage

We welcome Joaquin as guest instructor to lay the foundation at the start of camp on Aug 11th for goalies.

Joaquin is a former Professional ice Hockey Goaltender. Selected in the 5th round of the 1992 NHL entry draft, by the Edmonton Oilers, and played 23 games in the NHL with the Oilers. His experience included playing in 11 leagues over the course of his career. Instructor for various Edmonton Academies and Minor Hockey associations.

Madeline Stanley

3030Hockey Development welcomes Madeline to the team of instructors in Edson. Madeline grew up in Edson, playing hockey there until her midget then moved on to play one year of elite with St. Albert and her last two years of midget with the Edmonton AAA Pandas. She has been committed to the University of Calgary for the 2019-2020 season. Outside of hockey, Madeline also enjoys plays competitive soccer as well as track. She looks forward to her passion for the game with local youth.

Craig played minor hockey in St. Albert including bantam and midget AAA. He Played 4 years for St. Albert Junior Merchants. He was captain in 4th year. Craig has been a Teacher in St.Albert Public Schools for 22 years, and a wrestling coach for 22 years at the school. He has been a coach in a variety of sports such as baseball, soccer and has coached minor hockey for 9 years. Craig is well respected in the community and very passionate about sports. Connecting with kids so they learn and improve is a strength Craig brings on and off the ice everyday.

Dangler Academy – Off-ice Hockey Specific Activity

Dangler logoRegardless of a player’s skill level or age, if kids experience improvement, they will continue to participate and return to learn more. Dangler Academy is designed to offer Hockey specific off-ice stickhandling. It is a fundamental every hockey player must master. It allows you to develop deceptive moves and to help maintain possession of the puck at key times of competition. Kids are instructed to perform several stickhandling movements with proper technique, repetition and rest. Throughout the session kids will build their confidence while increasing speed and control in an environment that is pure hockey fun in a group setting for all ages.
